Physician assistants must be licensed in New Brunswick for any patient contact.  

Applying for a Physician Assistant Licence

To apply for a physician assistant licence in New Brunswick, you must:

  • intend to engage in practice as a physician assistant in New Brunswick;
  • graduated from an accredited physician assistant education program offered in Canada or the US and
  • successfully completed a physician assistant certifying examination in Canada (Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada - PACCC) or the US (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants - NCCPA).

Application process

Below are instructions to complete your initial application for a Physician Assistant Licence through the College member portal.

***If you already have a profile with the College, please disregard Steps 1-3.***

Step 1: Click here to log into your member portal. Access is also available through www.cpsnb.org, in the top right corner of the website. Click the Sign up link.

Step 2: From the Sign up page enter your email address and click Next. Then enter your first name, last name, gender, and phone number. Enter the security code displayed, select Agree then click Sign up.

Step 3: A confirmation email will be sent to the email entered with the title Complete your registration. Follow the instructions in this email. From the Complete your profile page create a password and click Save.

Step 4: Log in to your member portal using your email address and password then from the home page, choose the appropriate licence type and click Apply.

Carefully complete your application answering all the questions to the best of your knowledge, then click Submit.
